This web site started with the thought of traveling
to Portland to get a few pictures of this new passenger service called the 'Downeaster'. I drove to Portland from New Hampshire
on the first day of scheduled service, December 15, 2001. When I arrived I was bitten. The train had cast its spell
on me. Ever since that day, and any chance I get, I'm either talking about the Downeaster, taking photos of the train
and the folks who work on it, hosting or just riding the train. I hope you enjoy the photos on this site as much as
I do putting it together.
That sound you hear on this page is the horn for the Acela Express, Amtrak's high-speed
rail service from Boston to Washington, D.C....
